Aoife McColgan has enjoyed a whirlwind start to her Donegal career.
The 16-year-old, who plays her club football with Malin GAA, was called into the county senior panel just six weeks ago.
It didn’t take her long to find her feet though, and on Saturday she made her debut in the Lidl National League Division Two final against Westmeath.
The ‘keeper didn’t let newcomer nerves get the better of her and pulled off a string of superb saves to help Donegal claim the title with a 3-17 v 0-13 win.
Aoife was modest afterwards but admitted she was delighted to have played so well in front of her travelling support.
Malin GAA is the most northerly club in Ireland, and a busload of friends and team-mates made the nine-hour round trip to Parnell Park to cheer her on.

“Thankfully I had a half-decent game in front of them because they’ve all helped me from Under-12,” she explained.
“She’s a revelation,” assistant manager Sean O’Kane said. “She’s the best I’ve seen.”
