A number of ministers have called on everyone to pay their water charges – including cabinet members.
New Super Junior Minister Finian McGrath has not paid his bills so far.
Former Environment Minister Alan Kelly has called on him to resign if he continues not to pay.
Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe said everyone should pay their charges before they’re suspended in June: “I’m of the view that people should pay the bills, that are outstanding to them at the moment.
“We are going to be having a debate now in relation to the future of water charges, after the aftermath of which the Government and the Oireachtas will have a vote on the matter.
“But the principle is very clear that bills that have been issued at the moment should be paid.”
