It was a good day for clubs from the west as both Sligo Rovers and Galway United recorded wins tonight in the Airtricity Premier Division.

Sligo Rovers had to endure more than half an hour with only 10 men against Bohemians after Michael Leahy was sent off for two bookable offences after 64 minutes.

The Bit O’ Red went ahead after a shot from Liam Martin was deflected past the Bohs goalkeeper Dean Delany by Kieran Sadlier on 18 minutes.

At the Carlisle Grounds, Bray Wanderers suffered a 2-1 defeat to Galway United who move above St Pat’s into fifth place.

Eric Foley opened the scoring for the westerners with a stunning free kick into the top corner of the Bray net.

They then went two up just as the Wicklow men were looking likely for an equaliser, a long-range strike from Mark Ludden doubling Galway’s lead.

Bray got a consolation goal through Andrew Lewis just as the game entered injury time, but it was too little too late for Bray who remain just above bottom club Longford after tonight’s game.
