A former Minister in the last Government has said he does not see how the Fine Gael led minority administration is going to work.

The party published its programme for Government this week following lengthy negotiations.

Pat Rabbitte has said he fails to see how that plan can be fulfilled given the numbers Fine Gael has.

He has likened the situation to a popular Danish TV show: “A government can’t deliver it’s programme unless it has a majority.

“In the new arrangement, ‘Borgen’ is all very well for entertainment and television, Ireland is not Denmark.

“A government that is terminable at the caprice of Fianna Fáil, is not going to be able to do anything.

“And the worst type of government to have is a government that is paralysed.

“I find it very difficult to see how it is going to work.”
