
Around 130 jobs are at risk at one of Tipperary’s main pharmaceutical companies.
The High Court has appointed a provisional liquidator to Suir Pharma in Clonmel.
Staff were called to a meeting with management this afternoon where they were informed of the trading difficulties being experienced by the company and were told to clear out their lockers.
A worker has said that while the closure has come as a shock it was not a complete surprise.
“Over the last few months we have been seeing things with our own eyes.
“We have requested meetings with senior management, our union reps have done that for us also.
“We have been denied meetings a lot of times, when there was meetings basically we were fobbed off.
“We weren’t given answers to questions we were looking for, Sanica who bought into us last year, basically no member from there has been seen on site for a number of months.
“We have requested to speak to somebody senior from that company to give us answers and we have been denied that all along.”
