The credibility and balance of the European Union would be called into question if the UK decided to leave, according to the Foreign Affairs Minister.

Charlie Flanagan told a conference on the issue this morning that a Brexit would leave us in “uncharted waters”.

British voters will take to the polls to vote on whether or not to stay in the EU on June 23rd.

Five weeks out from the referendum, Charlie Flanagan says it could seriously damage the Union if they leave: “It is my view that the very effectiveness, the internal balance and the credibility of the European Union itself would be damaged by a UK departure.

“Today’s world presents us with many complex and disparate challenges in very many cases the best response to these challenges emerge when we work together as a union of 28.”
