School buildings may stay open for after-class care in a new strategy being developed by the Education Minister Richard Bruton.

The issue has long been debated, with barriers to using school buildings including insurance and staffing.

The Irish Times reports that an education strategy will be finalised within the Government’s first 100 days in office.
