The ‘Three Sisters’ of Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford have joined together in a bid to become the 2020 European Capital of Culture, writes Stephen Barry.
Now hurlers from Brian Cody, Derek McGrath and Liam Dunne’s opposing panels have come together to publicise the bid.
In the first part of the video, released today, Waterford captain Kevin Moran and Wexford forward Liam Óg McGovern perform at the Wexford Opera House.
They’re joined by Kilkenny’s three-time All-Ireland winner Walter Walsh, who is filmed painting a football at the Grennan Mill Craft School.
A football in Kilkenny? Maybe all of the sliotars were in use at the time…
Although we should note that Walsh has played minor football for Kilkenny and he even has a Leinster Colleges U16 Football title to his name.
McGovern has form for singing too, having being filmed performing The Fray’s ‘How to Save a Life’ for teammates before a League game against Kerry.

The video was produced by John Bermingham of Waterford-based All That Can Be Productions. It was directed by, and also stars, Wexford native Mick D’Arcy, lead singer with well-known folk band Corner Boy.
