Gardaí are investigating a suspected arson at a warehouse in Limerick, writes David Raleigh.

A fire broke out around 5.50pm yesterday at the Galvone Industrial Estate, located near Southill.

The warehouse was been used to store building materials in a number of disused offices.

Four units from Limerick City and County Fire Service, using a high rise Bronto Skylift ladder, and water tanker, fought the blaze for over two hours.

Shannon Town Fire Service also attended the fire to provide back up to local crews.

The fire, which is believed to have started in one of the offices, was put out shortly before 8pm last night.

“The internal offices were gutted, but the structure wasn’t seriously damaged,” said a source.

The fire is suspected to have been lit deliberately, the source indicated.

No one was injured in the fire.

Gardaí at Roxboro Road are investigating.
