Star Trek Beyond is set to make a mark in movie history by becoming the first outdoor IMAX movie presentation when it premiers at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, writes Greg Murphy.
In what is set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, Star Trek Beyond is the third installment in the newly rebooted Star Trek cinematic universe.
Last week CBS launched a teaser for their upcoming TV series which has excited Trekkies across the globe who cannot wait to go on more adventures in space.
At a fan event to mark the 50th anniversary of the sci-fi franchise cast, crew, and fans came together to pay a special tribute to the late Spock actor Leonard Nimoy who sadly passed away in February last year.
Fast and Furious director, Justin Lin, took to the stage to dish out some news about his latest installment in the Star Trek franchise, giving fans a sneak peak at a number of clips, new movie posters and even a new trailer.
As a nod to the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, the new movie is set to introduce 50 new species to the galaxy.
The movie’s premier will also not be held at the usual red-carpet style event but will instead be screened for fans on July 20 at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
Star Trek Beyond is due to warp into cinemas here on July 22.
