Paschal Donohoe has said Gardaí will be given all the resources they need to deal with gangland crime.

The new Minister for Public Expenditure has said the Government is committed to catching the killers of the most recent victim in the Kinahan-Hutch gang feud.

Yesterday 29-year-old Gareth Hutch became the seventh person to be murdered since a rise in tensions between the sides last September.

A man in his 20s is being questioned by Gardaí over yesterday’s attack and searches have been carried out.

Minister Donohoe has said detectives have the Government’s support.

“We will insure that all the resources that are needed for An Garda Síochána to deal with this vicious cycle of murders are made available,” said Donohoe.

“We have done that to date, over 1,000 armed checkpoints have now been implemented since February.

“We’ve €5m made available to set up an Armed Support Unit and we will continue that investment to deal with this level of terror.”
