Here’s how the Ireland starters and subs rated during the 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.

The Ireland squad will be finalised in four days’ time, after Tuesday’s friendly against Belarus.

DARREN RANDOLPH – Did not have a save to make until the 69th minute and was caught in no man’s land for the equaliser. 5 (out of 10).

SEAMUS COLEMAN – Threat throughout down the right flank and unruffled defensively. 6.

SHANE DUFFY – Headed a good second-half chance over and was caught ball-watching for the equaliser. 5.

JOHN O’SHEA (capt) – Solid at the back on his 111th Ireland appearance and his firm header allowed Shane Long to tap in. 6.

ROBBIE BRADY – His corner laid on the goal and was a threat all night from set-pieces. 7.

HARRY ARTER – Aggressive early tackle set the tone for an energetic display on his second senior appearance. 7.

GLENN WHELAN – Neat and tidy performance from the Stoke midfielder. 6.

STEPHEN QUINN – Battling for a place in 23-man squad but had few opportunities to press his claims. 6.

SHANE LONG – A knee gash gave the Republic a scare before he showed his predatory instinct to score the opener. 7.

DAVID MCGOLDRICK – Did his chances of making the final squad no harm in a withdrawn role behind the front two. 7.

JON WALTERS – Had only one chance at goal, his header from a tight angle comfortably held by Jasper Cillessen. 6.

Substitutes

JEFF HENDRICK (for Quinn, 67min) – Found it difficult to get involved in the game as Holland dominated the closing stages. 6.

JAMES McCLEAN (for Long, 67min) – Was energetic after his introduction, showing some good footwork to get Ireland moving forward on one occasion. 6.

DARRON GIBSON (for Whelan, 67min) – Will hope for more of an opportunity to press his claim for a place in the 23-man party against Belarus on Tuesday. 6.

WES HOOLAHAN (for McGoldrick, 75) – Brought a little bit of class to proceedings. 6.

EUNAN O’KANE (for Arter, 82min) – Had a late chance but could not get enough power on his shot. 6.
