David Meyler is focused on making Ireland’s 23-man roster for Euro 2016, after belatedly joining up with the squad, writes Stephen Barry.

Meyler won a ticket back to Premier League football with Hull City in Saturday’s Championship play-off final and he returned to Ireland training today.

He was joined in Turners Cross by Keiren Westwood and David Forde, after both goalkeepers lost their play-off finals to Hull and Barnsley respectively.

However Meyler doesn’t feel like he needed much time to adjust before tomorrow’s friendly against Belarus.

“I had to focus on Hull at the time, which I did and we got promoted, which was our aim for the season,” said Meyler.

“But we’re all together in Cork now and we’ve got a game tomorrow before the manager picks the squad, so we’re all focused.

“We’re delighted to be back in the Premier League but the only way I can look at it is that it’s finished now.

“We did our job, we got promoted and I’m here now so we need to focus on the game coming up, and then we need to prepare for France.”

From 70,000 fans at Wembley to a more compact 7,000-person send-off at Turners Cross tomorrow, the former Cork City midfielder will feel comfortable in the surrounds of his former home stadium.

“It’s really nice to be back here. Being from Cork and playing here for Cork City, it’s really nice to be here with the Irish team.

“So I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

Elsewhere, Ireland’s upcoming Euro 2016 opponents Belgium have had another injury setback.

Centre back Nicolas Lombaerts will miss this summer’s tournament after his regular defensive partner Vincent Kompany had already been ruled-out of contention.

Genk’s uncapped defender Christian Kabasele has been called up to the squad.
