A Dublin man who killed a father-of-five he wrongly suspected of being involved in the death of his uncle has been jailed for 15 years.

Michael Kinsella of Swiftbrook Close, Tallaght, was charged with murder, but his plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter was accepted by the Director for Public Prosecutions.

Adil Essalhi was beaten and stabbed up to 50 times before his killers covered him in bleach and tried to set his body on fire on January 6, 2011.

Michael Kinsella’s plea to manslaughter was accepted last December. His uncle Wayne is already serving a life sentence for his murder.

The court heard the men spent the day drinking before Wayne Kinsella received a phone call to say that Adil was involved in his brother’s killing.

They lured him out to some fields at the back of the apartment complex where his remains were found in a ditch one week later.

Michael Kinsella has since accepted that Mr Essalhi had nothing to do with his uncle’s death.

At his sentence hearing in April, the victim’s mother Geraldine told the court her son’s death had destroyed her family.

Today, Ms Justice Deirdre Murphy sentenced the 24-year-old to 15 years in prison.
