Aid agency Concern saw its highest ever annual income last year, at €182.2m.

Its annual report for 2015 released this morning shows it helped 22.6 million people in 28 countries.

Major emergencies, including the Syrian crisis, the Ebola outbreak, civil war in South Sudan and the devastating earthquake in Nepal that killed over 8,000 people contributed to the significant increase in Concern’s 2015 income and expenditure.

Concern Worldwide has spent over €1.5bn on life saving activities since 2005.

Concern Worldwide’s chief executive, Dominic MacSorley, said the organisation’s record income and expenditure last year and the help it provided to 22.6 million people is “testament to the support we receive from our donors and supporters across the world and to the quality of our work.

“This is not just about numbers. This is about the impact we are having and demonstrating to the public that aid works.”
