Gardaí have arrested a woman and a man in connection with organised criminal activity and serious assaults in the Cork city area.

The woman, who is 20 and the man, 21, were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.

The arrests occurred this morning in the Blarney area north of the city.

The two people who have been arrested are detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 in Togher and Bridewell garda stations in the city.
