Anti Abortion campaigners will hold a rally in Dublin this afternoon – calling for the 8th amendment to be retained.

The law gives equal right to the life of the unborn child and the mother.

The Government has committed to holding a citizens convention – to decide whether on not to repeal in the law.

Cora Sherlock from the pro life campaign has said the 8th amendment should be retained: “We haven’t had enough of a conversation about all of the good things that the 8th amendment has done.

“The people who are alive today in Ireland because of the 8th amendment, and that is what the event is about.

“So I would encourage everybody, however you feel about this debate, come down to the rally between 3-4pm and you will hear something different about the debate.”
