GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghaíl has ruled out the possibility of both Meath and Antrim being promoted to the Leinster senior hurling championship.

The Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) of the GAA will meet today to discuss the Christy Ring Cup final between the two counties.

Meath were presented the trophy after the game on Saturday but it turned out afterwards the referee had got the score wrong and it should have been a draw.

The referee’s report will be discussed today.

The winners of the Christy Ring cup get promoted to the Leinster Championship next season. There had been some suggestion that both teams could be promoted but Ó Fearghaíl has dismissed that possibility.

“If the match had ended in a draw, you have to have a winner,” he said. “You can’t have two winners. We have to be fair and honest.”

A replay now appears the most likely outcome, although several Meath players are reportedly due to leave the country in next few days.
