Gardaí in Co Limerick are marking the 20th anniversary of the death of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe this morning.
A wreath is being laid on the site where the 52-year-old was shot dead during a raid on the post office in Adare on June 7, 1996.
The father of five was killed four months after the breakdown of the first IRA ceasefire.
Four members of the terrorist organisation were convicted of Jerry McCabe’s manslaughter, however his widow Ann has called death “plain murder”.
