
Gardaí are investigating an incident in which a man who had been removed from a premises in Dublin was restrained on the street outside, with the incident catured in footage by witnesses.
The incident outside Dicey’s on Harcourt Street, Dublin took place on June 6 at around 1.10am. The video shows security guards in hi-vis jackets restraining the 28-year-old man. Punches are thrown and the man is held on the ground with one of the guards pressing his knee to his throat.
Witnesses call on the guards to back off and to only use “reasonable force” while the man who is being restrained can be hear wailing.
The mother of the young man who shot a video of the incident spoke to RTE’s Liveline and said: “He was coming out when he saw security guys beating a guy and he started videoing it on his phone. He said one of the security guys beat the guy very badly in the face.
“He said the young guy’s face was in bits, he knew straight away that what he had seen was not right…My son said all you could hear was this guy wailing.”
The man on the ground had earlier been removed from Dicey’s after an incident inside the venue, the manager of BC Security – named only as Victor – told Liveline.
He was later taken to hospital by paramedics.
