During a road race in Carrigtwohill organised by the Cork Business Houses Athletic Association we saw one such act of sportsmanship that we feel deserves to applauded, writes Steve Neville.

Ken Devine had been leading the race and was on course to win until a wrong turn led him off track.

Bryan Crowley took the lead and with the finish line in sight, instead of breaking the tape as winner, he paused and waited.

Behind him was Ken Devine and in a fantastic act of sportsmanship, Mr Crowley allowed Mr Devine to pass him and finish the race as the winner, which he would have done had he not taken that wrong turn.

Hats off to you, Bryan!
