Post mortem examinations will be carried out on the bodies of two people who drowned in separate incidents in Galway yesterday.
The first incident happened at around 2pm when a 19-year-old man got into difficulty while swimming in the River Corrib at Dangan, close to NUIG.
His body was removed from the water by the Coast Guard and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later a passerby discovered the body of a woman in the Galway docks.
Both bodies were taken to University Hospital Galway where post mortem examinations will take place today.
