There are calls for the law to be changed in this country to ensure employees receive fair redundancy entitlements.
It comes as Clerys workers hold a rally outside the former store today to mark one year since its closure.
The Dublin department store was bought by Natrium on Friday the June 12, 2015.
Following the purchase Natrium immediately moved to liquidate the store’s operating company.
Dublin TD Joan Burton has said that the Government needs to legislate in favour of workers as a matter of urgency.
“My own view has been that the State should pursue all the options available to it to see if it can recover the redundancy payments,” said Burton.
“But, more importantly potentially restore to Clerys workers, the 465 people who lost their jobs, what they lost.”
