The Education Minister has announced an Action Plan for disadvantaged schools which will be published before the end of the year.

Richard Bruton says he wants to address a number of issues in the school system including supports for management.

He also expects the review to look at the way subjects are taught to children who struggle in education.

Mr Bruton says he has been getting a lot of feedback from schools about what they need.

The Minister said: “I think every school has challenges in behaviour and helping kids who may have challenges at home and helping them to support them in the school environment, because their capacity to apply themselves and not disrupt others is hugely important.

“I think that’s a challenge in every school, and that’s something that you need to equip each individual teacher, but also to have a resource for the whole school to tackle it on a coherent basis.”
