As tens of thousands of Irish fans descend on Paris, it has emerged that most will spend an average of €2,000 on their trip.

A survey by Continental Tyres finds nearly a quarter of fans will travel in luxury, spending up to €4,000 over the next two weeks, while 27% plan to scrimp a bit, by spending under €1,000.

More than one in 10 fans from the Green Army plan to travel around France in a campervan.

More than two thirds plan to go to all three matches, and 79% would stay on if we get out of the group stages.

The vast majority of fans, 70%, are hoping to attend all three matches, while for those attending just one match, Lille is the most popular option – where Ireland take on Italy on June 22 – with 15% making the pilgrimage to the northern French city.

The survey showed that 66% of respondents have booked their own flights and accommodation rather than using a travel agent.
