A young Scottish footballer has given an interview to a Scottish tabloid describing a series of surreal experiences while living in Limerick recently.
Jordan Moore previously played for Dundee United and Dunfermline Athletic but took time out from his career to battle skin cancer.
More recently the 22-year-old spent several months with Limerick FC in the League of Ireland.
Judging by this interview, his time in the south-west of Ireland was not a happy one, while people who know the areas he talks about are baffled by the descriptions.
“I stayed in a place called Bruff,” Moore told the Daily Record. “It was the weirdest village ever. The locals would jump on the backs of horses and just ride along. There were no cars. Or at least there was more horses than cars.”
Moore also had some very strange animal-based tales from Limerick City itself.
“They call the area Stab City. On every second lamp post there is a horse tied against it. There must be 20 horses in every street you walk down.
“Where we stayed it was crazy. But if you tried to cut the horses loose then they would kill you – supposedly.”
He continued: “The police came and moved all the horses away one day. The next, the guys who owned the horses, smashed every shop and put all their cows in the shops and in schools as well.
“The farmers who had cows in their fields put them in the shops, the Spars and supermarkets, for revenge. The police gave them all the horses back and told them to watch what they were doing.”
Moore also described being threatened by an alleged gangster about taking care of the club’s gym equipment and being sent to live in a haunted convent. He also alleged the club regularly delayed paying him and that he was paid with coins from the burger van takings.

Unsurprisingly, the interview has provoked a stunned reaction online.
