Fans of Cristiano Ronaldo may be disappointed that his Portuguese side could only draw against Iceland in the Euros last night, but at least he will live to tell the tale.
Before the match, Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson had threatened the Real Madrid star with a bloody end if he dared score against Iceland.
No doubt footballers get plenty of threats, and these are usually easy to ignore.
But most people would take notice when the guy doing the threatening is best known as the Mountain from Game of Thrones.
Björnsson took time out from filming his role as the violent Ser Gregor Clegane to graphically illustrate what he intended to do to Ronaldo if he scored.
Before Iceland plays Portugal, remember what The Mountain said he’d do if Ronaldo scores https://t.co/DxY5WCOkru pic.twitter.com/kI8SzzrOeg

Gulp. Intimidating even when he starts laughing.
Luckily for Cristiano the massive actor and professional strongman appeared pleased by the 1-1 result.
Björnsson’s warlike approach to football appears to be a common one in his native country – check out this tweet from an Icelandic cultural magazine.
AND NOW WE SMITE THEM INTO TINY PIECES OF DUST & DESTROY THEIR GOAL WITH A BALL SET ON FIRE BY OUR VOLCANIC THUNDER. #Euro2016 #ISL
