The Football Association has said it will do all it can with French authorities to prevent a repeat of violence at the Euro 2016 tournament.

European football’s governing body has already warned England and Russia that they could be kicked out if there is further trouble involving their fans.

Six people are still in hospital with serious injuries, one of them with stab wounds, after previous clashes.

One England supporter, who was at the game on Saturday, said: “All these Russian fans were coming in, smacking everyone they could. English fans just had to run. Penned in. No police. Flare going off. Women and children crying. Literally, just had to get out of the way.”

France’s Interior Minister said a total of 116 people had been arrested following violence at the tournament.

Bernard Cazeneuve also announced that, since Friday, three violent supporters had been deported from the country, and that five people had been banned from entry into France because of the risk they posed to public order.
