A vigil has been organised this evening in memory of British Labour Party MP Jo Cox who was shot dead yesterday.
It will take place at Custom House Quay in Dublin to express solidarity with her family, friends and colleagues.
Vigil organiser and human rights activist Dan O’Neill says they want to send a strong message: “We believe that love must always overcome hatred, and rather than the message of Britain first, we want to put all of us first and end hate and promote human rights.
“I think Jo Cox would want us to promote human rights and promote love.”
Meanwhile the British Prime Minister and leader of the Labour party in the UK have arrived in Birstall in West Yorkshire, following the death of MP Jo Cox in the market town yesterday.
David Cameron and Jeremy Corbyn laid flowers in the square where the mother-of-two was shot and stabbed after holding a constituency advice surgery.
Mr Cameron’s praised the Labour MP’s dedication to her job, and says she’ll be sadly missed: “Two children have lost their mother, a husband has lost a loving wife.
“And of course Parliament has lost one of its most passionate and brilliant campaigners, who epitomised the fact that politics is about serving others.”
