It is being reported that Gardaí have arrested two members of the Kinahan cartel in Dublin this afternoon.
Armed officers stopped a car on the Naas Dual carriageway shortly before 3pm and seized a handgun and ammunition. A 30-year-old man was arrested.
Shortly afterwards, gardaí stopped a second car on the Long Mile Road, Dublin 12 and arrested another man in his 30s.
Both are being detained under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended in Dublin Garda stations.
The two men are said to be known associates of David Byrne who was shot in the Regency Hotel last year, and gardaí believe the pair may have been en route to a hit as part of the Kinahan/Hutch feud.
