A threshing display from another era was one of the highlights at today’s Gorey Agricultural Show at sunny Clonattin.
An estimated 12,000 people attended the 157th Gorey Agricultural Show at Clonattin, less than two miles for Gorey town centre, today, where 280 classes from fresh vegetables to classic showjumping provided over 10 hours of country activity.
Weather conditions were warm and pleasant and a temporary village sprang up for the day as the trade stands were bigger and better and larger in number this year.
This was the seventh year that the Show has been held on lands provided by Michael Lacy and Tom Stafford and the event is growing in stature and attracting satisfactory numbers of visitors and competitors to compliment the dedicated efforts of the organising committee.
Showjumping and showing horses attracted huge numbers, and the standard was very high, while there were dogs everywhere, the dog show, a dog’s agility display which was awesome, and a display of hounds who showed obedience and and control.
Full report and picture coverage in next Tuesday’s edition of The Gorey Echo with a full list of results from all classes in the following weeks’ issue.
