Dublin city councillors have decided to ban street performers from using backing tracks.

They voted in favour of the restrictions this morning following calls for regulations from residents and business people.

However, they have rejected a complete ban on amplification.

It means buskers will be allowed amplify themselves and their instruments, however are no longer permitted to use backing tracks as part of their performance.
