The Attorney General has raised concerns about the constitutionality of a bill on abortion in the case of fatal foetal abnormalities.

The Dáil is set to debate the legislation from Wexford Independent TD, Mick Wallace next week.

It’s understood that the Attorney General has advised the government that the bill is unconstitutional.

Tánaiste and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald, has indicated that all members of the Cabinet need to adhere to collective responsibility, after Ministers from the Independent Alliance grouping sought a free vote on the legislation.
