Almost 100,000 children in Ireland are victims of child poverty.
That is according to the Children’s Rights Alliance, which says thousands of children are going hungry everyday.
A conference today will explore the long term investments needed to improve the situation.
Chief Executive of the Children’s Rights Alliance is Tanya Ward: “The kind of things we are worried about are food poverty because we know that children living in hotels, families living in hotels, don’t have cooking facilities which means they are spending their money very fast on fast food.
“And more generally food poverty for children, is a big issue in Ireland.”
