The Airtricity League resumed tonight after its summer break, with Dundalk retaining their spot at the top of the Premier Division table.
Ciaran Kilduff and Ronan Finn netted for the reigning League champions in the second half of their tie against St Patrick’s Athletic to seal a 2-0 win.
There were scoreless draws between Bray Wanderers and Sligo Rovers, and Shamrock Rovers and Cork City.
The latter result means that City slip three points behind leaders Dundalk.
