Mary Lou McDonald TD opened the History and Heritage Festival in Gorey last night.

The Vice-President of Sinn Féin, Deputy Mary Lou McDonald, was in Gorey Library last night (Friday) where she sang the praises of the History and Heritage Festival and performed the official opening in front of a large gathering.

Ms McDonald was impressed with the theme of the festival; 1916, What Happened Next.

Well-know journalist and religious correspondent, Patsy McGarry, delivered a very impressive Fr Forde Memorial Lecture, which also strongly featured the events of the Easter Rising 1916 and its aftermath.

The festival continues with workshops, exhibitions, and field trips over the weekend.
