US vice president Joe Biden will finish his six day trip to Ireland today.

Mr Biden enjoyed the tourist experience with his family over the course of his visit.

US Vice president Joe Biden arrived in Ireland on Tuesday and enjoyed a six day visit where he traced his ancestry.

Highlights of his trip include receiving an honorary doctorate at Trinity College in Dublin for his contribution to world politics, a round of golf with Taoiseach Enda Kenny in Mayo visiting the passage grave at Newgrange and a trip to Dublin Castle.

Mr Biden has been in Ireland many times but described this as a special family trip.

Mr Biden will return to the US following a lunch with Taoiseach Enda Kenny today.
