Bus drivers have said they want pay parity with Luas drivers.

The National Bus and Rail Workers Union said the recent dispute at Transdev has brought to light the difference in the wages of Luas and Bus drivers.

It comes as the union continues to push its pay claim with Dublin Bus.

General Secretary Dermot O’Leary explained: “I suppose the recent Luas dispute was played out very publically,

“And during that dispute we discovered tram drivers were earning money way beyond what the bus drivers were earning.

“What is significant in that for us is that when we went over and had a look across at the European countries it transpires that tram drivers and bus drivers are paid the same.”
