Paul Kelly’s sister Joan McKenna has asked for more time to reply to allegations made by Console – the suicide charity set up by her brother.

She, along with Mr Kelly and his wife Patricia, were served with injunctions in light of findings of financial irregularities at the organisation.

In the High Court last week, lawyers for Console successfully applied for a number of temporary injunctions.

Paul Kelly, his wife Patricia and his sister Joan McKenna, were ordered not to interfere with the charity.

Its bank accounts were frozen and an order was made preventing them from using its credit cards and any other financial instrument.

On top of that, they were instructed not to remove or destroy any of Console’s records and to return all goods and property to the charity.

The case returned to court on Friday and Mr. Justice Paul Gilligan was told of difficulties getting a hold of the Kellys to serve notice of the injunctions.

It is understood contact has since been made through the Kelly’s legal team.

Joan McKenna, a former director of Console, was served on Friday afternoon and today asked for more time to file a replying affidavit.

Mr. Justice Gilligan told her he did not want to break up the case and all three are due to have their responses ready by tomorrow.
