Residents in the Kilnahue Lane area of Gorey are opposed to the latest application for 200+ housing units by Gannon Developments and are mindful that the last application was turned down by the planners and is located in the general Creagh and Carnew Road area which is used by 2,000 students daily.
Opposition to further development at Kilnahue comes at a time when it is acknowledged that there is a chronic shortage of housing in Gorey at the present time and in the region of 1,000 people are in need of housing in Gorey town and district.
Cllr Fionntán Ó Súilleabháin has taken up the local objections. “I suspect the timing is designed to frustrate potential opposition by school parents worried by traffic chaos and pedestrian safety. Of course, more housing is desperately needed in North Wexford-social and affordable housing preferably.”
The application will be considered by Wexford County Council’s Planning Department, and a decision will be made in due course.
