A Galway family has collected more than €180,000 in prize money from last Friday’s EuroMillions draw.

Meanwhile, another lucky Galway punter is €50,000 richer after he won the jackpot prize on with a National Lottery All Cash Platinum scratch card.

The two winning tickets have scooped total of €236,974.

The family syndicate won €186,974 after they matched five numbers and a lucky star.

The family, who wish for their win to be kept private, bought their Quick Pick selection ticket at Centra in Northgate Street in Athenry, Co. Galway.

They were unsure of what prize they had won prior to visiting National Lottery offices on Abbey Street in Dublin and they were shocked when Lottery officials told them that their winning ticket was worth €186,974.

One of the winners said: “I went into the shop to scan my ticket on the machine and I thought that the machine was broken. It told me to contact National Lottery Headquarters so I wasn’t sure if it was my ticket or the machine which was causing the message.

“One of the workers in the shop told me that I must have won something so we decided to jump on the train to Dublin to find out.

“In my head, I thought maybe we might be lucky enough to win around €20,000, so we were absolutely speechless when we were told that we had won nearly €200,000.

“It will take us some time to get over this shock.”

The family are still stunned with their scoop, but they plan to use some of the winnings on their home.

They said: “It will take us some time to get our head around our win but we have some bills to pay off first and then we will look at doing some much needed work on our home.

The win is a lot to take in all at once, so we will have to discuss our win as a family group and decide from there.”

The other Galway winner celebrated his €50,000 scratch card win which was bought at Corrib Oil in Ballinasloe in Co. Galway.

The young man, who wishes for his win to remain private, will use the money as a deposit for a house and he will also spend some of the money on small treats for his parents and family.
