
Phil Mickelson wasn’t the only thing on fire in Royal Troon today.
Wirecams are sports broadcasters’ latest toy – enabling those overhead shots to give fans a bird’s-eye view of the action.
One suffered a fairly serious malfunction at Royal Troon today, bursting into flames while the Open Championship was underway.
Despite the warning of ‘DANGER’ on the Instagram post, it doesn’t appear to have caused any real drama or concern.

No word yet on what caused the fire, although we can probably rule out spontaneously combusting in the Scottish sun.
