Leading Irish jockey Bryan Cooper did not suffer any lasting damage in a nasty fall at Kilbeggan on Friday evening.

Standing in for Davy Russell, who was hurt on Thursday at Killarney, Cooper was riding Sir Raston for Dermot Weld in the second race on the card, but was one of four riders to come down after a horse seemingly stumbled.

All the riders got to their feet, but Cooper was shaken and elected to go for checks on his ribs.

The Gold Cup winner confirmed he had escaped any lasting damage.

“I’m fine, just a bit sore,” said Cooper.
