Tánaiste and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has said that gardaí are continually reviewing security measures to deal with terror threats.
Her calls come after 84 people were killed during Bastille celebrations and Turkey endured a failed military coup last week.
Speaking to Cork’s 96 FM today, Minister Fitzgerald said we have to be vigilant.
“It’s an operational issue for an Garda Siochána and the Gardaí have to look at international events, and national events,” she said.
“They continually review the security of the State, and as terrorists use new methods, of course we have to be very sensitive to that and aware of it.
“The Garda Commissioner was linking with her counterparts in France last week.”
