The summer is back as temperatures are set to hit the mid-20s in some places this afternoon.

Met Eireann have said it will be warm, dry and sunny for the day with highest temperatures of 21C to 26C – warmest in the Midlands.

If you’re living in the south and east it could be rather dull and cloudy however, with sea fog drifting inland.

There is also a slight risk of the odd shower in north Leinster and Ulster later in the day.

Tonight will continue to be warm and humid throughout the night and may be cloudy or misty in some places.

Fog is likely to linger in southern, eastern and northern coastal areas.

Lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees, in light southerly or variable breezes.
