As the Dáil breaks for a 10-week summer recess, some of the new TDs have been talking about their new job.
People Before Profit TD Brid Smith said that Leinster House is not always a friendly place.
“I find a lot of people false in here, I do,” she said.
“They’re all very nice to your face and then stab you in the back as soon as they’ve walked past you.”
Independent Alliance TD Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran said being in Government has been tough going at times.
“I find it frustrating, I find it very slow, and I wouldn’t mind bringing a few of the people around the table and ask them to shake the whole place up,” he said.
A number of odd things have happened to the TDs in their first while in Leinster House.
Sinn Féin’s fresh-faced Donnchadh O’Laoghaire said that he has been mistaken for a parliamentary assistant.
Fianna Fáil’s Lisa Chambers said her mother said she looked tired and asked could she not call Micheál Martin and tell him she wouldn’t be in.
Fianna Fáil’s Jack Chambers said he was surprised by the obsession with his hair.
