Representatives from Siptu met with HSE management this morning to discuss a dispute involving members in the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
According to Siptu, the issues in dispute include the compensation due to NAS workers under the public service agreement, the implementation of a fully developed Intermediate Care Service and the application of an annualised hours system.
Union members have already voted to begin all-out strike action on Wednesday, August 10.
“We had a robust and business like engagement with representatives of the management of the HSE and NAS,” said Siptu Health Division organiser Paul Bell.
“At the meeting the issues facing our members were discussed and union representatives presented management with the solutions to them.
“A management assurance that it intends to resolve these issues in a timely fashion was noted.
“However, management must work hard to provide our members with the confidence that the outstanding issues will be resolved in a manner that is satisfactory for them and the public they serve.”
