Five families who are facing eviction are appealing for a Dublin hotel to be converted into emergency accommodation.
Lynam’s Hotel on O’Connell Street, is expected to close at the end of the month under the terms of receivership.
The families are calling for the Nama owned property to be transformed into emergency accommodation.
Local Cllr Daithà Doolan, who is also chairperson of the city’s Housing Committee, said: “It’s simply not good enough that families are being put out on the street, they are already homeless.
“We need to focus, we need to work together in solidarity with the families in support – the department, the city council and Nama – to ensure we can bring a solution to this.
“I have no doubt whatsoever that with the right political will and determination this can happen.”
