A Dáil deputy claims people are going blind waiting on cataract surgery.

Michael Healy-Rae has been defending his decision to ask the Health Minister over one hundred questions in the Dáil in just one day.

The Kerry TD says he’s determined to get answers for his constituents who want to know why they’ve been left waiting for medical treatments.

Deputy Healy-Rae says the situation is simply not good enough: “And I’ll give you one example, that is people waiting to have cataract operations carried out, I know in recent times, in the last five or six week period in Co Kerry, two people, relatively young people, who have gone blind, while waiting to have cataracts removed from their eyes, now that to me is totally unacceptable.”
