A lone yachtsman has been rescued from an overturned sailing boat off the Wexford coast.
The alarm was raised at around 8pm last night when the sailor’s personal locator alarm was picked up by search and rescue.
The marine rescue coordination centre in Dublin became aware of the sailor’s personal locator beacon around 20 miles off the coast and sent the coast guard helicopter from Waterford.
They found the yachtsman sitting on his overturned vessel before winching aboard the helicopter and taking him to Waterford Regional Hospital.
The Coast Guard say that he is doing well.
